Consisting of four regional heats, Mr Phormula found himself battling it out against some stiff competition in the north heat of this year's championship. Getting through to the 3rd place wild card battle, he just lost out to London based beatboxer / Mc Marv-ill super lungs, an unfortunate knockout for the Phorm, not to worry though as the evening was an excellent one! Big battles! Big beatboxers! Dope night all around! Big shout out's to Ball-zee, Crowe and Marv-ill. Same time next year no doubt!! For more info on the grand final checkout - http://www.vauxhallbeatboxchamps.co.uk/
Dybl L and Dews Derywddon have been grafting hard in the studio recently with uncle Phormula, getting to grips with Dybl L's latest offering in the form of a 6 track e.p, which will be up for download very soon! Tracks consist of that classic “wu tang boom bap ish” that we all know and love, complimented by Dybl L's clean cutting bi-lingual delivery and Dews slick bass playing you can expect this e.p to hit home as a welsh classic – No Doubt.
Next up, a taste of something different for you! Recently, Mr Phormula teamed up the Absurd's very own Sophie Mckeand to put together a 3 track single with a twist. Who's Sophie Mckeand!?!? - Based in the sunny metropolis which is Mold, Sophie describes herself as “a freelance performance poet, writer and event organiser who lives in Yr Wyddgrug, north Wales. I love the performance aspect of poetry, that it allows an audience to connect with words in a way that cannot be achieved on the page and that people still go to perform and watch a performance.” Having performed at the Llangollen Fringe Festival, the Hay Poetry Jamboree and the Green Man Festival to name but a few, a collaboration was definetly in the pipeline. Head over to the SHOP section now and download your FREE copy! Damn!
Lastly, march 6th saw Mr Phormula rocking S4C in this year's Can I Gymru (Song for Wales), an annual competition that consists mainly of folk and pop songs, this year saw something very different as Mr Phormula made it through as the first ever beatboxer in the competition, 156 had tried – 8 got chosen, big achievement indeed. Unfortunately Mr Phormula didn't win, but the chance to introduce Wales to something new and fresh was much more than rewarding! Checkout the media section for the official performance vid. Nice!
And there we have it people, lot to get your teeth into for this update! There will a be a lot more on the way, 2011 is looking to be a big year for Mr Phormula and welsh hiphop in a whole. Panads it is!

To kick start the new year off, Mr Phormula / Hoax emcee / Alex Moller and Rob Buck (Gwibdaeth Hen Fran) teamed up for Radio Cymru's very first Sessiwn Unnos. The basic idea was that four musicians came together at the BBC studio to create a free downloadable e.p (produced, mixed and mastered) consisting of a minimum three tracks between the hours of 7pm and 7am. The finished product then went up for free download, including artwork, for 9am the following morning. Airplay of the tracks was on on the C2 show the following evening. Also, the very talented Andy Birch (Dime One) jumped up on artwork duty. Between 15 cans of red bull, coffee, a Chinese takeaway, free sandwiches and a quiche, the session turned out to be a very successful one.
You can download the finished product (cover and all!) from the SHOP section or you can cop the streaming version along with vids of the evening from radio cymru's unnos section - http://www.bbc.co.uk/radiocymru/c2/safle/unnos/orielau/rhaglen01.shtml
